Two-Factor Authentication Setup

Add an extra layer of security to your Felicloud account by enabling two-factor authentication (2FA).

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires two forms of verification to access your account:

Your phone or security key

Good to knowEven if someone steals your password, they can't access your account without the second factor.

Supported 2FA Methods

📱 TOTP App (Recommended)

Use an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator to generate time-based codes.

🔐 Hardware Security Key

Use a physical security key like YubiKey for the highest level of security. Supports FIDO2/WebAuthn.

🔢 Backup Codes

One-time use codes for emergency access if you lose your primary 2FA device. Always generate these as backup!

Setting Up TOTP Authentication

1. Download an Authenticator App

If you don't have one, download a TOTP authenticator app:

  • Google Authenticator - Simple and reliable (iOS/Android)
  • Authy - Cloud backup option (iOS/Android/Desktop)
  • Microsoft Authenticator - Works with Microsoft accounts too
  • Bitwarden - If you use Bitwarden password manager

2. Access Security Settings

Log in to cloud.felicloud.com, click your profile icon in the top right, and go to Settings → Security.

3. Enable TOTP

In the Two-Factor Authentication section, click "Enable TOTP". You'll see a QR code and a secret key.

4. Scan the QR Code

Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code. If you can't scan, manually enter the secret key shown below the QR code.

5. Verify and Save

Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app to verify the setup. Click "Verify" to complete the activation.

WarningAfter enabling 2FA, immediately generate and save backup codes! You'll need them if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Generating Backup Codes

Backup codes are essential for account recovery if you lose your 2FA device:

1. Access Backup Codes

In Security settings, find "Backup codes" and click "Generate backup codes".

2. Save Your Codes

You'll receive 10 one-time use codes. Save them securely:

  • Print them and store in a safe place
  • Save in a secure password manager
  • Store in a safety deposit box for important accounts
TipEach backup code can only be used once. After using one, cross it off your list. Generate new codes when you're running low.

Using 2FA with Apps

Desktop and mobile apps need app passwords when 2FA is enabled:

1. Create an App Password

In Settings → Security → Devices & sessions, click "Create new app password".

2. Name Your App

Give the app password a descriptive name (e.g., "Windows Desktop", "iPhone").

3. Use the App Password

Copy the generated password and use it instead of your regular password when setting up the desktop or mobile app.

Good to knowApp passwords are specific to each device. You can revoke them individually without affecting other devices.

Lost Your 2FA Device?

If you've lost access to your authenticator app:

  1. Use a backup code: Enter one of your saved backup codes during login
  2. Disable 2FA: Once logged in, go to Security settings and disable 2FA
  3. Set up again: Re-enable 2FA with your new device

Best Practices

  • Enable 2FA on important accounts: Especially your email and cloud storage
  • Use an authenticator app: More secure than SMS-based 2FA
  • Keep backup codes safe: Store them separately from your password
  • Set up on multiple devices: Authy allows syncing to multiple devices
  • Review active sessions: Periodically check and revoke unused sessions
  • Use app passwords: Never share your main password with third-party apps
